How We Determine Rent

Fair Value for Your Spare Bedroom

We collect rental data from multiple sources in your specific zip code to determine what the average rent is for a 2 bedroom home is in your zip code.

You will be paid a minimum of $600/month to share your home.

Then, we add a $250 increment to cover utilities, HOA and property taxes, ensuring that you receive fair compensation for your space and any additional expenses incurred.

$250 to Cover Utilities

The homeowner is responsible for covering electricity, heat, hot water, sewer, HOA fees, and property taxes associated with the property as they would normally.

We add $250 to cover any additional expenses incurred and to split some of the baseline expenses.

Homeowners and housemates can foster positive relationships from the very beginning without the stress of contentious negotiations about the value of the home and the labor provided before moving in. Home Sweet Homeshare determines fair value of the home and of the labor provided.

How we determine Fair Compensation for Labor

Here's how it works:

Housemates assist for 40 hours per month with household chores in exchange for discounted rent.

Each housemate on our platform receives an $800 reduction in rent, equating to a "fair value" hourly rate of $20.00.
